Minimal access. Domain-only requests.

SiteRank reads the active tab URL locally to derive its registrable domain, then sends only that domain for a metrics lookup. It never reads page content or uses the Chrome History API.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about SiteRank, our data, and your privacy.

What is SiteRank?
SiteRank is a Chrome extension for checking a website’s global site rank and estimated daily views. It combines public signals from Chrome UX Report (CrUX), Cloudflare, Tranco, and Common Crawl. To perform a lookup, it reads the active tab URL locally and sends only the derived registrable domain to the SiteRank service.
What does “estimated daily views” mean?
Estimated daily views is our estimate of how many times a domain is viewed per day — not how many unique visitors it has. It is based primarily on Chrome UX Report (CrUX) popularity signals, which reflect navigations to an origin in Chrome, and is refined with other public data sources.
Is the data real-time?
No. SiteRank uses the latest available public signals, and each source updates on its own schedule. The values are estimates designed for quick comparison, not live analytics from the website itself.
What data sources do you use?
SiteRank combines signals from Chrome UX Report, Cloudflare, Tranco, and Common Crawl. Using several independent sources reduces dependence on any single dataset.
How is the global rank calculated?
Signals from the available sources are normalized into one consistent popularity model. No single source determines the final rank. See Our methodology above for the overview.
Is SiteRank safe to use?
SiteRank is designed for minimal browser access. It reads the active tab URL locally, sends only the derived registrable domain to retrieve metrics, and does not read page content or use the Chrome History API.
How is SiteRank different from broader SEO extensions?
SiteRank is intentionally focused on a quick website-rank and daily-views lookup. It does not perform on-page audits, keyword analysis, or content analysis. That narrow scope means it does not need page-content access: it derives the registrable domain from the active tab URL and sends only that domain to retrieve metrics.
What access does the extension need?
SiteRank uses the tabs permission to read the active tab URL and derive its registrable domain, the storage permission to cache successful results locally, and access to the SiteRank API host to retrieve metrics. It does not need access to page content.
Do you read page content or track my activity?
No. SiteRank does not read page content, use content scripts, request the Chrome History permission, or use cross-site tracking. It stores successful lookup results locally: the registrable domain, returned metrics, and timestamp are used as a 24-hour cache and remain on your device until replaced or you clear the extension’s data.
Is SiteRank an Alexa Rank alternative?
Yes. SiteRank is designed as a modern Alexa Rank alternative for quickly checking website popularity in Chrome. Instead of relying on a single ranking source, it combines multiple public datasets into one consistent global rank and also shows estimated daily domain views.
Do I need an account?
No. Install the extension and use it immediately — there is no registration, login, or personal profile required.
