1. What SiteRank accesses
To provide website ranking information, SiteRank reads the full URL of the active browser tab locally. It derives the public registrable domain from that URL and does not transmit the path, query string, fragment, or page content.
https://example.com/article?ref=home, SiteRank derives and sends example.com for the lookup. The rest of the URL remains in the browser.2. Permissions and local storage
SiteRank uses the tabs permission to read the active tab URL and the storage permission to cache successful lookup results locally. The cache stores the registrable domain, returned rank and estimated daily views, and a timestamp. Cached results are used for up to 24 hours; records remain on your device until replaced or you clear the extension’s data.
The extension has a host permission only for https://api-siterank.irondatum.com/*, which is used to retrieve metrics. It does not request permissions for Chrome history, page-content scripts, cookies, web requests, downloads, clipboard, or identity.
3. What SiteRank does not read
The core functionality does not require access to the contents of webpages you visit. SiteRank does not read:
- page text or article contents;
- passwords or form contents;
- private messages;
- documents displayed inside webpages;
- account balances or other private page content.
4. How ranking requests work
When SiteRank needs ranking information, it sends the derived registrable domain to the SiteRank service at api-siterank.irondatum.com. The service returns information such as a global popularity rank and estimated daily views when data is available. The extension does not send page content, full URLs, account details, or form data in the metrics request.
5. Browsing-related data and service logs
SiteRank does not use the Chrome History API, content scripts, or cross-site tracking. The service receives the registrable domain needed for a lookup. Like most online requests, limited technical metadata may be handled automatically by the service infrastructure to deliver, secure, or troubleshoot the request. Depending on the systems involved, this may include an IP address, user-agent string, or request time. SiteRank does not intentionally use this information for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking.
6. Data sources
SiteRank’s website popularity model may use public or aggregated third-party datasets and signals including Google Chrome UX Report (CrUX), Cloudflare popularity-related public data, Tranco, and Common Crawl.
7. Estimates
SiteRank displays estimated daily views to indicate approximate scale and support relative comparisons between websites. They are not first-party analytics and should not be treated as exact visitor or page-view counts.
8. Data retention
The extension keeps successful lookup results locally for up to 24 hours. SiteRank does not intentionally maintain a browsing-history database or user profile. Limited technical metadata, if automatically generated by the service infrastructure, may be retained temporarily according to operational settings or applicable requirements.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect the service and information processed through it. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
